To celebrate World Book Day on the 5th March 2015 each child will be given a book token.

For six weeks the children in St. Anne’s took part in the Fit at School Fit Forever programme. Unfortunately this has now finished but the children all had a great time. The staff and children would like to thank Operation Transformation for choosing our school.

Our Boys Gaelic football team did so well in Cumann na mBunscol, storming through to the finals in October 2014. It was a fantastic experience for St Anne’s and although the boys lost out on the day we are all so proud of what they achieved. Here are some photos from the day!

SHOW RASISIM THE RED CARD: When we were in school Jim Crawford who works for the FAI came to our school and talked about racism. We thought it was a very good talk and encouraged us to stand up to bullying.
FAI: We do (FAI) every Tuesday with Brendan. He is a very experienced trainer. We are so lucky to have him come to school to train us! He would be very good for younger students who want to become expert footballers.
I PAD PROJECTS: We are lucky enough to use ipads in our school. We worked on an app called “key note” and created our own presentations. Our projects were done on the Mary Celeste,9/11 and the Bermuda Triangle. Here are some of the projects done by people in our class!

Match 3 By Dylan Benson
St.Annes Fettercairn 5-8 Scoil Aenghusa 1-1
Thursday the 26th of September saw St. Anne’s Fettercairn play host to Scoil Aenghusa, in St. Marks GAA Club Tallaght. The game started off extremely well for the home-team as Josh Doyle scored an early goal followed by an unsuccessful wide from Clayton Harte. Doyle, again supported by Harte, kicked a fantastic point from play, while Niall McGeady made his presence felt by scoring yet another point from play. Scoil Aenghusa’s mid field powered through St. Anne’s defence scoring a retaliating point from play, but Tiawo Ogundipe fired back for Anne’s with a shattering goal to push the home-team further ahead. Niall McGeady again set his sights on a point but unfortunately his effort was met with a wide. The remainder of the first half was an abundance of 45’s and frees, resulting in 2 points for St. Anne’s “All Star” Josh Doyle. The away-team however, continued to push forward although their attempts at closing the gap in point difference were futile, as St. Anne’s goalie Gavin Brennan repeatedly saved each ball that came his way. Doyle, with the help of Dylan Benson and Wayne Kivlehan finished the first half with another goal and point, pushing the home-team St.Anne’s into a comfortable lead, 3-5 to 0-1.
Niall McGeady kicked off the second half with great pace, and supported by Hugh Connors the pair scored two more points for Anne’s. McGeedy couldn’t be stopped and continued with a crushing goal for the home-team. Sc Aenghusa fought tirelessly to gain back some ground but the back line of Sebastian Cirpaci and Emmanuel Masinga were too powerful a force and their attempts were unsuccessful. Tadhg Ward saw his opportunity to cement Anne’s dominance with another goal but as Anne’s pushed ahead they slipped up with a disappointing foul on the away-team, who scored a fantastic penalty goal. Sc Aenghusa’s triumph was short lived however as Doyle scored a further point. Hugh Connors, Clayton Harte and Dara Khera delivered three wides for Anne’s. Down but not out the away-team finished by blocking a promising goal attempt for Tai Ogundipe. The final score of 5-8 to 1-1, confirmed that the St. Anne’s boys had made it through to the quarter finals, the first time in the schools history!!!!
A big welcome back to all the children and staff at St Anne’s Primary school.
We have had such a busy month of May and June. We celebrated summer and went on nature walks around the school to see the leaves and flowers blooming.
This is our classroom art for summer, it makes the room bright and colourful as we get ready for the summer holidays!
We learned all about magnets in Science and really enjoyed going fishing for magnets.. it was great fun!
We learned all about length. We calculated the length of our books, tables, window sills and radiators, but the most fun was calculating the distance from our room to the AISTEAR room.. this was great!
We also had a fantastic day for Grandparents day and it was lovely to see all the grannies and granddads coming into our class to hear stories from the children and answer all the questions they were asked. Thank you! All the children made beautiful books for their grandparents and it was displayed in the Senior Hall.
We had a very exciting day at Zoom Playcentre and Glenroe Farm at our school tour. All the children had a fantastic day and really enjoyed their time on the farm. Have a look at our adventures…!
We have had a great year in Senior Infants. All the children have worked so hard! Have a lovely summer and look forward to going in to First Class!!
